Warner Brothers
Warner Brothers was founded on April 4, 1923. They started with four brothers whose last name were Warner, their names were Harry (Born December 12, 1881 in Poland and died July 25,1958), Albert (born July 23, 1883 in Poland and died November 26 1967, Sam (born August 10, 1887 in Maryland and died October 5, 1927), and Jack (Born August 2, 1892 in Canada and died September 9, 1978). They were four brothers from a family of 12 and their parents had been Jewish immigrants. In the beginning, 1903, they traveled around Ohio and Pennsylvania with a portable projector, and showed people films. Then in 1928, the Warner brothers purchased the Stanley Company of America for the theater chain that it had, and this also meant they had acquired one third of First National Pictures , which later that year they bought the rest of. Harry was now their companies president, Sam was the chief executive, Albert was the treasurer, and Jack was the production chief. This gave them a studio in San Fernando Valley in California, which is still where the Warner Bros. studios is. They then put a lot of money into making this the best studio in the world, by sound proofing the stages and linking the stages with separate rooms. Today they are a leading company when it comes to any type of entertainment. This includes things like broadcasting, comics, home entertainment, and worldwide distribution of DVD's. "Today, the vast Warner Bros. library, one of the most prestigious and valuable in the world, consists of more than 61,000 hours of programming, including nearly 6,500 feature films and 3,000 television programs comprised of tens of thousands of individual episodes." Also, it has been said that "Warner Bros. is typically in the business of making big-budget movies." Which shows that other people think highly of their movies. Over time they have made changes society in many ways. For example they had many accomplishments such as bringing sound to the movies, having the first dog in a movie, and making films that would increase national awareness. Bringing sound to the movies would bring a whole new aspect to the movies and that could then open so many doors as to what they could do with movies from there. Also, if they could use their movies to increase national awareness about different topics it would make it possible to spread messages more quickly, and get people to see different problems as people started to go to the movies more and more often.
