Walt Disney
October 16, 1923, when Walt Disney signed a contract with M. J. Winkler to make a series called Alice Comedies, is considered to be the start of Disney, which is now one of the best-known motion picture production companies in the world. Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Illinois, and throughout his life achieved many different things. He created many interesting characters, such as Mickey Mouse, founded Disneyland and Walt Disney world theme parks, and came up with many cartoons, like The Three Little Pigs and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and he did all of this before his death on December 15, 1966. He enjoted making cartoons and said "Animation offers a medium of story telling and visual entertainment which can bring pleasure and information to people of all ages everywhere in the world." and that it what he did with his animations and cartoons. Throughout the time that Walt was working he mostly focused on animated films, but there was a period of time where he made some "packaged features" in the mid 1940's eventually going back to animations by the 50's. Disney was among the first to use television for entertainment purposes as seen with all of his cartoons. In 1955 Disneyland theme park was opened to the public, and this was where the Disney characters really came alive. When he created Disneyland, he said "To all that come to this happy place: welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America... with hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world." Not only did Walt change society by using television for entertainment, but he also brought the characters that he introduced through television to life where kids and adults alike could interact with them. This would also caused more people to venture out into the public again like they did when there were only movie theaters because this was an experience you couldn't get at home with your television.
