Fan Interaction

In the 1880's through the 1930's, fan interaction was very limited with the stars of sports and films. If you were to talk with or even to your favorite athlete or actor, you had to see them in person and at a close range. Interaction with eachother however, created a much stronger community of fans supporting a sports team. When at cames, they interacted with eachother as if they'd known each other their entire lives. While this type of fan interaction with each other is still present in the sports and film audiences, not all fans are so close to the action.
Now-a-days, many fans talk over social media with each other, as well as their favorite celebrities. The internet and social media network has given fans access to athletic and movie stars in the palm of their hands. Now, an individual can be halfway around the world and wish their favorite player of the Boston Celtics good luck in their game, and that athlete can easily read the message. Also, being able to watch the game at home on your living room couch and not having to go to the game's venue decreases fan interaction with each other. The interaction with fellow fans who DO go to the games is still very similar, but those who watch games or films at home by themselves don't experience. Instead of feeding off of the energy around them and having their excitement multiply each second, they sit at home and feel alone and much less impressed by what their senses are taking in.
In the category of fan-star interactions, the possibilities and opportunities have increased incredibly and are much, much more convenient. Interactions between the fans however, has greatly decreased because the advances in technology allow the majority of them to be secluded from each other rather than connected as they once were required to be in order to.
