Disney and Feminism
Disney Princesses
In the beginning the Disney Princesses, such as Snow White or Cinderella, just stayed home to cook and clean and they were happy with that. Then, as our society progressed and women started to do more jobs it almost seemed like Disney was against feminism, but then along came other princesses, like Belle who like studying and Tiana who wants to open her own restaurant, and no longer did Disney seem to oppose feminism. Maybe the connection between the princesses and society are that when women see the princesses who are like this they realize it is okay for women to be like this, or maybe it is the other way around, with Disney basing their princesses off of the way that women are in society at the time of the movie making, but "In the 1950's, women really did walk around the house wearing aprons all day. In 2011, women really are opening their own businesses and serving in the armed forces." So this just seems like a case where society is influenced by what is in the movies, or where the films are influenced by what is going on in society at the time of the movie.
