Michael Phelps' accomplishments at the Olympics in the past 4 quartanual Summer competitions. The 27-year-old has holds the record for not only the most Olympic medals won at a single Olympics, but also for the al-time most Olympic medals won ever. The American Swimmer holds 19 total medals from these games which consist of 15 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze. "The legacy he has left behind for swimming is fantastic," said South African Chad le Clos, the guy who beat him in the butterfly(2012). "Even in Africa, everyone knows Michael Phelps." Although the performance at the final Olympics of his career (London, 2012) wasn't as outstanding as previous Olympics, Phelps is still a well known and appreciated athlete. Following the 2012 Olympics, many articles appeared criticizing, praising, and analyzing Mr. Phelps' career, including one from the well-known ESPN network. This young man's success is something to be marveled at and has made him one of the most well-known athletes in the United States.
